As anyone in Islamabad knows, the place to have breakfast is Chaaye Khana. Unfortunately, this popularity means getting a seat on a Sunday morning can take a long time! There is a relatively new restaurant next door that had a big banner saying that it also now serves breakfast, so instead of waiting half an hour, me and my friend decided to go and check it out.
One always tries to be safe when ordering for the first time at a previously unvisited establishment. We decided to go with a mushroom and cheese omelette along with a side of hash browns and baked beans, and a paratha. There were only 3-4 other tables occupied and the food took about 22 minutes before we were served.
Verdict: The eggs were pretty good, but the hash brown was the winner here. Whereas the next door establishment serves a mushy thing, Casa Rouge was excellent. Paratha was also good! Full breakfast per person came out to about PKR 460/ which is the standard breakfast price in town.
